The healing power of touch

Touch is our most fundamental and primal sense developed in the womb It serves as the largest sensory system in our bodies. Neuro transmitters  located throughout the body are ready to receive various stimuli and relay them to our central and per nervous system and brain for processing, the relevant response is then actioned. Touch keeps us safe and alarms us if we are in danger.

Skin-to-skin contact between a newborn and their mother can be life-saving, helping to prevent hypothermia, regulate breathing and heart rate, and boost breastfeeding rates. For centuries, our ancestors have embraced touch therapies like massage and reflexology to foster healing and enhance well-being. A therapist uses intentional touch to address each client's unique tension points, engaging with the nervous system to promote energetic flow. This nurturing experience stimulates the release of hormones such as oxytocin, serotonin and dopamine, while lowering cortisol levels.

Massage and reflexology are now being considered as an integral part of our well-being, alleviating pain, tension, and anxiety whilst facilitating natural sleep. Emotionally the benefits of touch can elevate our mood and overall sense of well-being.

Creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in my home for clients is just as crucial as the therapy itself, providing a private space for relaxation and helping their nervous system settle before treatment begins.

Coming to my home, is coming home to yourself.
